What is the medical, neurological, and any other scientifically-researched explanations of why we feel a physical pain after a heart break and loss of love? Can someone point me to the right article/publication to read?

Love is an abstract feelings. It happens in our mind. How does it actually translate into a definite and real sensation in our body?

Further on:
- How did we come-up with the metaphor of 'broken heart' ?
- Why is the pain located mostly in the chest area?
- How does a loss of love creates additional physical symptoms like shortness of breath, nausea, loss of appetite, knotted stomach, etc?

Thank you! Smiley
