Hi guys, can anyone suggest a therapy or something for a big problem that I have. I had an asthma attack in my car on my own nearly 2.5 years ago now and nobody came to my rescue, I didn't know what was going on, people just ignored me and I called an ambulance for myself ending up a night in hospital. Anyway ever since then I cant really go anywhere on my own without panicing. I just get so nervous and then panic... On the whole I've improved a lot, but I still cant drive on my own or walk to far on my own and I would love to take my kids away places. I'm just a normal guy, was a really outgoing guy! I've a wife and 2 kids and only for my wife I would have been lost ages ago. Please Please can someone suggest a therapy or something which is going to take this away? THANKS.

Hello milligank, I would advise you to get an appointment to any medical authority and lay your predicaments. Also, you can confide to any close family member and / or friends. For therapy, i don't have any specific one for you to try. But I believe, nature tripping is a better therapy for you to become explore in the surroundings. Good luck on that.

Hey Miligank,

Sounds like a case of post traumatic stress disorder resulting from the asthma attack. I know Meridian Tapping Technique or Emotional Freedom Technique ( EFT ) to be a wonderful tool for that, and it is so simple that once you get the hang of it, it puts the power back into your hands and you can guide yourself back to calm and clarity whenever you feel the panic start to creep in.

I had a client who was stuck in an elevator all by herself when she was 5, and until just recently she wasn't able to get herself into an elevator unless accompanied by someone ( sometimes she'll even ask security to escort her if she happens to be by herself ). I did a couple of rounds of the technique with her ( not solely on the elevator, but we touched on abandonment issues as well ) and I am proud to say that she is no longer paralyzed by the elevator.

It sounds like at the very least you are able to pinpoint how the fear started, so it makes the healing journey much easier. You can check out the founder's website which has a free manual, check out www.eftuniverse.com

If you do decide to try it do let us know how it turned out, or if you have more questions on this, I'd be more than happy to answer them.

To your journey,
Safrina

Hi milligank,

I would definitely recommend NLP for your situation.

Personally I use Ultimate NLP for all kinds of situations (http://www.ultimatenlp.com/?afl=52984)
but in your case I think The Ten Minute Cure is more targeted at precisely your situation:  http://www.tenminutecure.com/?afl=52984

(Both of these were developed by the highly acclaimed WCCL Network)

I'm sure it will help you

Regards

Lou...

Hi Milligank

I would definitely second the suggestion for EFT tapping .. it is very good for situations like yours. Another energy therapy that is very good  is the Emotion Codes (check it out on Google or youtube) which works on releasing trapped emotions. I agree that NLP is great too, especially the re-run of memory technique where you can re-run the memory in a kind of meditative visualisation after having inputted some resources (e.g Trust in the universe, self trust, self confidence ... whatever is appropriate for you etc) or re-run the memory as an eidetic technique and allow 'someone' (anyone ... you don't decide.. you just open to someone turning up) to turn up and see how that changes the memory.

The EFT and NLP techniques mentioned are a really good idea and you could also try a spot of self-hypnosis.  You want to try and create a calm and happy state of mind for yourself that you can trigger when you have a panic attack or feelings of anxiety.  I use the word CALM in huge letters in my head and through self hypnosis have been able to attach feelings of peace and calm to that word so that now I can access those feelings in literally seconds if I need to.

There is a lot of information available online about EFT and self-hypnosis or you can PM me for the self hypnosis track I used to create my own calming trigger.

Best of luck - remember it will get easier over time Smiley

It looks like panic attacks to me. I have experienced those for no apparent reason - I just panic. For me, it helps to stop doing what I was doing and shift my attention to something else. This way, that part of the brain that is overloaded can relax, as I'm engaged in doing something requiring another part of my brain. If I am writing something, I start doing calculations. If I watch TV, I start playing with the dog. It helps. I know panic attacks are not dangerous and all, but it's kind of overwhelming. In any case, I also advice on seeking professional advice.

Try setting up something like an emergency alarm in your car that automatically calls the nearsest service availbale when you press it. I don't know if there exists one but you may try for it.

Hi Milligank,

Not sure if you have since resolved your problem by following the advice here.  As a couple people mentioned, EFT is very effective for phobias and you can do it yourself.  : )

I work with the Emotion Code (and Body Code) which is also useful for Panic attacks.  I would be more than willing to gift you with a free session to see if this would help if you are still struggling with this issue.  You can contact me through my website below.

I agree with Coach Rina. Definitely work with Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) for panic attacks. One of the most powerful self help techniques available and extremely affective for anxiety and stress related issues. Have you seen the movie The Tapping Solution yet? If not, it's a must see. You will be blown away by how quickly and effectively this simple technique works for so many issues. The simple solutions are often the best.
All the best,
